The Public School Code requires that any student returning from an absence must submit a written excuse to the High School Office within three (3) school days. If the excuse is not given to the High School Office by the third (3rd) days after return, the absence will be considered illegal. 

 

According to state compulsory attendance laws, absence from school may be excused for the following reasons: college visitation, court appearance, death in the family, delay or absence of school bus, personal illness, quarantine, educational trip, impassable roads, traditionally recognized religious holidays, religious instruction, school sanctioned absences, and other urgent reasons approved by the district.
